What I Read #1 (Jan 2022)

Adding more “lifestyle” to this here blog! How about a roundup of my reading each month? Maybe y’all will be interested, maybe not – but we’ll see how it goes, shall we?

Here’s what I read in January of 2022:

Buy Taste: My Life Through Food Book Online at Low Prices in India | Taste: My Life Through Food Reviews & Ratings - Amazon.in

My favorite book this month was Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci. Yes, the actor, Stanley Tucci from Big Night, Julie & Julia, The Devil Wears Prada and so many other movies. I absolutely adored this book that interspersed stories of his childhood, his career, and his family, all seen through the lens of food. I plan to make every recipe he included in the book!

I also read 2 cookbooks this month as part of the Food52 Cookbook Club on FB:

Grains for Every Season: Rethinking Our Way with Grains and The Weekday Vegetarians: 100 Recipes and a Real-Life Plan for Eating Less Meat: A Cookbook

I’m enjoying both but I have to admit I’m enjoying the Grains cookbook a little bit more. I’m already a McFadden fan from his earlier book and I find his recipes and cooking style a little more approachable.

Other books this month include:

  • Find Me by Alafair Burke
  • Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
  • Last Day by Luanne Rice
  • Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi

I’m also slowly, slowly working my way through The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. It’s a book I’ve always wanted to read and always felt was a little insurmountable. I’ve decided that taking it in small bites is easier and gives me time to understand it better.

Notes:

99% of what I read is on my Kindle or using the Kindle app on my phone or tablet. I have a Kindle Unlimited membership which I make heavy use of for my lighter fiction reading, I check out a fair number of books from my library using the Libby App, and the rest … well, lets just say that sometimes my book spending budget is larger than it probably should be!

I’m on Goodreads: I don’t review many books there, but it’s a good way to keep up with my full list of past books and my annual reading goal, if you’re at all interested.
